Color Studies Studio

Sharing a few of my favorites from Color Studies Studio

We’ve got so many talented people in the Astoria Tech Meetup. One of them is Fareed, who just launched Color Studies Studio. He’s selling Japanese-made poster prints of his color studies.

In our home, we’ve got few books on color we’ve picked up in Japan over the years. One seems to go with my wife even when we travel. As an ikebana practitioner, it makes sense why she’d be drawn to deep dives on color.

For me, I just like looking at color studies. I have to admit I have never figured out how to translate them into design guides for anything I make. I once assumed that was the point of them, but I now just take them as objects to enjoy.

That’s what I instinctively did with Color Studies Studio. I went through and made a bookmarks folder called “Fareed moodboard”.

I’ll list the ones I picked in no particular order:

A few of these, given the way they are presented, really have me wondering if I should add some color to the Random Tantrum website.
